REFERENCE: On the last page of the database you will see some of the interesting books that you could purchase. On the database heading PAGE you will notice lots of numbers, separated by a coma. That directs you to a book and page where you can get more information for your research. This Database is only 90% accurate at best. There will be correction and additions for years to come. In the past years, many mines have changed names, some several times. When you find changes that should be made, please let us know so future updates will be more accurate. There has been an additional 160 mines added sense the 1st issue was made. Each mine is being checked for exact GPS readings and shall be noted on future issues of this Database. I have made a file folder on all 1223 mines now listed. All interesting interviews, maps, pictures and other information are being included in these files. In the near future there will be a MAINE MINE HISTORICIAL SOCIETY that will continue to collect information on Maine Mines. I am interested in donating all my books, old maps, pictures and research papers so the future generations of rockhounds can enjoy this great hobby. [Temporary address listed below. We will be dedicated to the preservation of records for future generations. The 1st meeting took place at my home at 28 Maple Lane in Poland Maine, Sat. evening May 25, 2002 at 6:00 PM. If I listed them all, it would take another full page. I also thank my wife [Helena] of 43 years that has put up with my many hobbies. We have enjoyed the hiking and getting out into the great outdoors. There is also a book of old lost Maine Gold Mines in the works. You will really want this book if you are involved with Gold mining or panning. Many hundreds of hours of research and many miles traveled on this one. I can reserve a copy if you call. The new book will probably be called. GOLD MINES AND LOCATION IN MAINE. You will notice that there are NO stories or specific directions to any mine, other than GPS readings. It will be your challenge to read the books listed at the end of this database.
